Ok, this thursday at Control see's some screenings from the Piatra Neamt Film Festival that i dj'ed at a few months ago. Loads of fantastic films and a great crowd of enthusiastic young film makers are sure to be here. There's also a live gig from a great band (not sure if i'm allowed t name them, but you'll be pleased with the surprise) and some good old fashioned party tunes from me. Check it out this thursday.

City Shop Viral Photoshoot

Last weekend we dodged security guards on the metro to fire off some rapid photos of pretty young things in head and foot attire from The City Shop, a cool new addition to Bucharest's trendy shopping hang-outs. And now we have the laborious task of stitching them all together to produce a stop animation viral video... that equates to almost 1000 photos running over 1.5 minutes. We'll post the finished product very soon.

PARTY :)

Friday night is party night, and I'm looking forward to this one. I'll be joined by my sparring partner "The Model" (Gigolo Records) as we go the full 12 rounds at The OtherSide (Expirat). Prime techno upper cuts, fancy footwork electro, some cheeky italo jabs and some good old left hooks of house. No nosebleeds and nothing below the belt, we're gonna keep it all above board, like the gentlemen we are. Ringside seats from 10pm. Final bell around 5-6am.

Sunday Mist

I was suffering from intense cabin fever having spent the week on the couch with my leg up, so once the plaster came off there was no stopping me from getting some beautiful fresh Bucharest air (cough cough). I had to source some locations for a photoshoot so I packed my camera and aimlessly wondered round Bucharest. As usual for a weekend it was very quiet and the lingering fog added to the ghostly calm.







Around 4pm it started getting dark, so I went on a long metro ride and sneaked a few pictures of some stations before I got caught by some security guard, who obviously thought I was spying for the KGB. You're not allowed to take photos in the metro which is a pity cause I found some nice spots. Maybe i'll just chance it and see what happens. If you don't want to be charged as an accessory I recommend you avoid the highly sensitive photo evidence below.

... I had an argument with a taxi whilst on my bike. I lost and am now spending 9 days at home, confined to the sofa with my right leg in plaster. Coinciding with this disability is the fact that my two cats have decided that now is the time they want to have sex with each other. So, here i am on my sofa, surrounded by assorted missiles I can throw at the amorous couple when they start getting hot under the collar! Oscar is off to the vet this afternoon to get his bollocks chopped off, and I for one will be happy with that!

Above are some pictures i took on my phone whilst in the hospital. And before i get abuse for portraying the hospital as a dump, it wasn't. These just caught my eye and offered up some light relief to another wise painful experience.

Six Hour Session @ Frame Club

I'm looking forward to a great weekend ahead. On friday i'll be dropping an eclectic set of oddball breaks, electro and leftfield disco to warm up for main man Will White from the Propellerheads (see post below).

On saturday night i'll be manning the decks for a 6hr (or longer) solo flight at Frame Club, where i'll span the musical spectrum from Electro, Post Punk, Synth Pop, Cosmic Disco, Party Bangers some Indie some House and Italo and finally some good old fashioned Techno :)

Hopefully see you on a dancefloor this weekend :)

Loggia Autumn Relaunch

As summer winds down in Bucharest the party scene returns from the beaches the city, and this friday sees the re-opening of Loggia. It's also Riley and Raluca's birthday celebration. So what are you waiting for?

Friday Party at Loggia

We've got a great party coming up this friday at Loggia. Myself and Dj Kosta will be entertaining the crowd, most of whom will be there to celebrate Mr Gil Lang's big 3-0. If you know Gil, and haven't heard about the party (which is very unlikley) come on down from 10pm until the sun comes up.

Homosexuality was illegal in Romania until very recently. It was actually considered an illness and treated as such. Although the law has now changed, the ignorance is sill here.

I will hopefully upload an uplifting post tomorrow as I seem to have started this week on a sombre note.

Citizens expecting Romania's bad habits to evaporate now they are part of the EU will be sadly disappointed. Yesterday a friend's family member was in hospital having an operation. She had to pay a pretty hefty sum of cash for the operation to take place, but on top of that just before the operation was to commence, the aneathatist demanded an under the counter payment of £100! If that wasn't bad enough, she then had to bribe the nurse who was supposed to take care of the family member more money just so the nurse would do what she was supposed to do! In emotional times like this it makes me furious that these things happen. Anyone who suggests Romania has tidied up it's act is sadly mistaken. :(

Padded Cell at Cabaret

"Greetings!

It gives me great pleasure to announce, in a loud voice through a
rolled-up newspaper, that PADDED CELL (AKA Richard Sen) will be spinning
at CABERET on Friday. Padded Cell just dropped their debut LP on DC
Recordings, which demands to be listened to, and Richard is currently
seriously in demand as a DJ. Me and Logan are hoping that some of his
hipster credentials rub off on us… expect us to stand unnecessarily close
behind him for the duration of the event, striking poses and occasionally
twiddling with some knobs while he’s in the middle of a mix.

I’m hoping that you’ve got a healthy disregard for anything written by the
barely-literates who populate the pages of DJ Magazine, but for those of
you who’re still interested, they said of Padded Cell, (and I quote) “The
Darker side of filthy disco.” Hell yeah! See you there, filth-mongers…
